According to college football expert Brett McMurphy, who made this claim during an interview on The Paul Fine baum Show, FSU and Clemson are “gonna leave” the ACC. The two southern teams may end up in the Big Ten rather than the SEC.

Murphy stated, “They’re going to leave” (h/t On3). “When matters more than if.

A few weeks ago, I attended the ACC Spring Meetings, and… Basically, ACC insiders informed me that it should come as no surprise that the ACC will fight this all the way to the finish.

They will undoubtedly have to settle at some time, but the ACC will do everything in their power to postpone that settlement.

“Because other institutions will be free to depart as soon as a settlement is reached and a figure is determined for Florida State and Clemson to leave. The schools in Virginia and North Carolina.

The SEC would undoubtedly be interested. They already have Florida and South Carolina, so I don’t think they’re interested in Florida State or Clemson.

Though they should be in the SEC, FSU and Clemson could start preparing for the Big Ten instead.

Moving to the Big Ten wouldn’t eliminate the rivalry that FSU and Clemson have built with South Carolina and Florida in the SEC.

However, it would feel appropriate for them to wind up in the “It Just Means More” conference given their locations and recent history with SEC schools—especially Clemson with their string of College Football Playoff matchups with Alabama, though FSU’s recent home-and-home with LSU and their 2013–14 national title game against Auburn were notable in the sport as well.

With such acquisitions, the B1G would be well positioned to grow into the deep south and maybe overtake the SEC in terms of total talent.

In terms of revenue, they’ve already overtaken the SEC.

Although it’s a bitter pill for SEC fans to take, things are changing, especially since Kalen DeBoer is now the head coach instead of Nick Saban and Brian Kelly’s hold on LSU is loosing.
