BREAKING: Massive Kristaps Porzingis Injury Update During Celtics-Heat Game

Joe Mazzulla did not provide any indication during his Thursday media conference at the Auerbach Center as to where Porzingis stood in his rehabilitation process. The fact that Porzingis has not yet encountered any difficulties in his recovery from a calf injury sustained on April 29 was not emphasized by the Celtics coach.

Mazzulla remarked, “I haven’t seen him doing what he’s doing specifically.” But I’m sure he’s working hard and improving every day. He’s trying extremely hard to get back, and he’s making good progress, so I’ll have more when he gets in later today.

Since sustaining a calf strain against the Heat on April 29, Porzingis has missed 11 straight games for the Celtics.

He was never listed as having improved injuries during Boston’s four-game sweep of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Heat, despite reports that he was aiming for a comeback.

Mazzulla went into further detail on Porzingis’ recuperation during his Wednesday chat with Zolak and Bertrand on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

“I am aware that he slightly increased the intensity on the court,” Mazzulla remarked. As previously said, he is putting in a ton of labor.

There have been a few shootarounds in which he hasn’t played with the team but has instead been in a one-on-one environment, kind of turning up the intensity. He has been improving steadily.

Before Game 1 of the NBA Finals on June 6, Porzingis will have a whole week to advance in his recovery. Mazzulla and the Celtics will have three sessions in the interim before playing the Mavericks or Timberwolves in Game 1.

According to Mazzulla, “practice is all about the details and the margins.”

Ensuring that we improve as a unit, both offensively and defensively, and that we comprehend our situational execution and philosophies—all of which are necessary components of winning.

The same routines we have followed all year. Those would be the focal points. Therefore, I believe that we must improve, regardless of the outcome. We’ll carry out it tomorrow.
