Auburn Tigers Latest Gist: Auburn Tigers HC Explain, “Unpleasant Love” To Black Skins Players

Allegations Against Auburn Football Coach Bryan Harsin

Accusations have surfaced against Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin, with former players like Lee Hunter and Kobe Hudson alleging mistreatment of Black athletes.

Hunter cited his decision to leave Auburn as being driven by feeling undervalued and poorly treated, stating, “Coach Harsin has the true mindset for a winner but has a terrible mindset as a person.”

In a February 4 article by Bennett Durando, formerly of the Montgomery Advertiser, a source claimed that Harsin struggled to connect with players from different backgrounds, particularly Black players from urban areas in the South, while relating more easily to players similar to those he coached at Boise State, often from a working-class white demographic.

However, the source clarified that they never heard Harsin use racist remarks or language.

Despite these allegations, several Black players have defended Harsin, and there is no substantial evidence supporting claims of racist behavior from the coach. Yet, journalist Justin Lee’s mention of the issue has reignited the controversy surrounding Harsin’s treatment of Black players.
