Texas Longhorns Update News: Longhorns Landed For Three Super Star Signing

Longhorns Secure Key Frontcourt Addition in 2024 Recruiting Class.

Head coach Rodney Terry and the Texas Longhorns have bolstered their frontcourt for the 2024 recruiting class with a significant new signing.

The latest addition, 6-foot-11, 210-pound big man from Austin, TX, Vinson, joins four-star power forward Nic Codie from Carrollton (TX) Newman Smith, forming a talented duo in the Longhorns’ frontcourt.

In addition to Vinson and Codie, Texas has also secured a commitment from five-star shooting guard Tre Johnson from Dallas (TX) Link Academy, enhancing their 2024 class with elite talent across positions.

Vinson becomes the 12th scholarship player signed by the Longhorns, leaving room for one more addition under the NCAA’s 13-player scholarship limit.

This flexibility allows Coach Terry and his staff to further strengthen the roster as they prepare for their inaugural season in the SEC in 2024-25.

Originally committed to Vanderbilt last fall, Vinson sought a release from his Letter of Intent following the dismissal of former head coach Jerry Stackhouse earlier this spring.

Since decommitting in mid-April, Vinson visited South Carolina and Kentucky. However, Texas made a late offer in mid-May, and approximately three weeks later, Vinson committed to joining the Longhorns, opting to stay close to home in Austin.
