Auburn Athletics Announces Dr. Robert Carlisle as New Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development.

Auburn University has named Dr. Robert Carlisle as the new associate athletics director for student-athlete development, a decision announced on Thursday afternoon.

Dr. Carlisle transitions to Auburn from Appalachian State University, where he led the Mountaineers’ RISE program. This initiative focused on developing, nurturing, supporting, and preparing student-athletes for leadership roles in their professional careers and community engagement.

At Auburn, Dr. Carlisle will take charge of Auburn YOU, the athletic department’s extensive life skills program. His responsibilities will include overseeing the strategic vision and implementing programs designed to enrich the student-athlete experience, promote personal growth, professional development, and ensure overall well-being.

“Auburn deputy athletics director and senior woman administrator Djenane Paul expressed the search committee’s confidence in Dr. Carlisle, stating, “Dr. Carlisle’s enthusiasm for relationship-building, curriculum development, and dedication to the overall student-athlete experience stood out to our search committee.

In response to his appointment, Dr. Carlisle shared his gratitude in a news release on Auburn’s athletics website, saying, “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work at Auburn University. My sincere thanks go to Djenane Paul and the entire hiring committee who have served throughout this process.”

Dr. Carlisle’s tenure at Auburn will not be his first experience within the SEC. Previously, he served as a scholastic supervisor at Texas A&M University, where he earned his doctorate in recreation, park, and tourism sciences with a focus on youth development.

Dr. Carlisle’s wealth of experience and dedication to student-athlete development make him a valuable addition to Auburn Athletics, promising a significant positive impact on the university’s student-athlete community.
