Rams Biggest Question: Just In Rams “Mandatory”, Another Leave Of a Top Star Player

The Rams’ most pressing concern at the required minicamp is a possible issue.

This week marks the end of the Rams’ required minicamp, the final event of the offseason program. This means that the lengthy six-week wait until training camp opens is quickly approaching.

It’s a lot of time to sit, wait, and consider all the possible outcomes for the Rams this season—six weeks. Aaron Donald is no longer with us! Jared Verse and Braden Fiske had best get ready for big parts! Matt Stafford’s arm is on the verge of blowing apart!.

Thankfully, ESPN isn’t holding us waiting when it comes to determining a subject that will keep Rams supporters up at night.

They released a post this week that broke out “offseason storylines” for each club, and their Rams blurb is particularly depressing in addition to being predictable. (Perhaps excessively is going too far.)

“Last week, Rams coach Sean McVay said he didn’t have an update on whether there had been progress on a new deal or extension for the quarterback, adding, “We’re just keeping everything internal.”

Although Stafford has taken part in the Rams’ volunteer work this spring, McVay did state that he anticipates seeing Stafford at minicamp.

The Rams renegotiated defensive lineman Aaron Donald’s deal just before minicamp two years ago, but they usually work out contract extensions at training camp or just before the season begins.”

On the one hand, it is never a good thing to be unsure about the starting quarterback. It will be up to Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett [checks notes] to keep the Rams afloat if things go south.

However, this sounds more like a procedural matter than anything else. I wonder whether anyone out there believes that these two parties will let this slip through their fingers? When training camp ends without a new agreement reached, we may all start to worry about Stafford. Let’s stress about everything else till then.
