Braves Fresh Injury News: Atlanta Braves Report Huge Boost Injury Of 2 Top Star Hours Ago

Braves Endure Challenges Ahead of Giants and Phillies Series, Face Major Setback with Injuries to Daysbel Hernandez and A.J. Minter

The Atlanta Braves navigated through June without one of their top bullpen contributors.

Despite this, the bullpen stepped up impressively, achieving the fourth-best ERA in June, despite being stretched thin by a demanding schedule that included minimal off days and doubleheaders.

In a much-needed boost, the Braves announced the return of A.J. Minter from the Injured List on Monday.

Minter’s return not only provides the team with a fresh arm but also reintroduces a dominant presence to their bullpen.

Before his hip injury, Minter experienced an unusual season. While his 2.95 ERA was within expectations for Braves fans, his strikeout rate had dipped, and he was more susceptible to home runs.

His career-worst HR/9 rate before 2024 was 0.92 in 2019, which spiked to 2.11 this season.

Minter particularly struggled in the 9th inning, posting a 13.50 ERA over five outings, significantly higher than his 2.37 ERA in other innings.

His hip injury likely contributed to these struggles, as his performance, including his command, was unusually lackluster in May.

The Braves managed Minter’s recovery carefully, allowing him two weeks to heal and an additional two weeks for rehab.

During his rehab assignment, the 30-year-old reliever conceded just one run in three innings.

With Minter now healthy, Braves manager Brian Snitker has three reliable setup men to help balance the bullpen workload, providing much-needed rest for relievers Pierce Johnson, Aaron Bummer, Joe Jimenez, and Raisel Iglesias, all of whom pitched in 10 games during June.

Despite the roster adjustments, Daysbel Hernandez was the unfortunate casualty.

However, Hernandez, who has been outstanding with no runs allowed in 9.2 innings and a 1.61 FIP, will likely be the first option when the Braves need additional bullpen support.

This development is crucial as the Braves prepare for upcoming series against the Giants and Phillies, aiming to maintain their competitive edge while managing the challenges posed by injuries and a grueling schedule.
