The Miami Heat signed former New York Knicks shooting guard Alec Burks on Thursday. Burks, who joined the Knicks after a trade with the Detroit Pistons last season, averaged 6.5 points in 13.5 minutes during the regular season.

After re-signing OG Anunoby, their top priority, the Knicks saw center Isaiah Hartenstein sign a lucrative long-term contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a significant loss for their frontcourt.
