Injury Updates on Braves and Phillies Players Ahead of Crucial Games.

The Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies are dealing with key player injuries as they prepare for upcoming games.

The Phillies were shut out in a 6-0 loss to the Braves, bringing their record to 5-4 in the nine games played without star sluggers Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.

The good news for Phillies fans is that Schwarber is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list for their next game on Tuesday. Harper is also on track to return sometime this week, although his exact return date is still uncertain.

Both Schwarber and Harper ran the bases before the game, showing significant progress in their recoveries.

MLB.com reported that Schwarber has been running at full intensity for two consecutive days, while Harper was running at or near 100% intensity.

Schwarber had been sidelined with a groin strain and Harper with a hamstring strain.

Running bases is a critical step in their recovery, indicating they are almost ready to return.

Despite neither injury being considered overly serious, it is a positive sign for the Phillies that both players are close to returning to the lineup without long-term issues.

In other injury news, Jesus Luzardo of the Miami Marlins is on the 60-day injured list due to a lumbar stress reaction.

Despite this, teams are still inquiring about his availability, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

Luzardo was placed on the IL on June 19 and is expected to be out until at least August 18. If he returns and performs well, he could be a valuable asset for a contender.

However, the Marlins may be hesitant to trade Luzardo, who remains under team control through the 2026 season.

For the Braves, Orlando Arcia is struggling offensively, hitting .209/.245/.332 over 314 plate appearances with the lowest wRC+ (58) of any qualified hitter in baseball.

This marks a significant drop from his performance in the 2022-23 season, where he had a league-average wRC+ of 101 and even earned an All-Star selection.

Despite his struggles at the plate, the Braves are allowing Arcia to continue playing due to his strong defensive skills at shortstop.

According to Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves are not considering promoting hot-hitting prospect Nacho Alvarez, who recently made his Triple-A debut, as a replacement for Arcia.

As the Braves and Phillies navigate these injury challenges, the outcomes of their upcoming games will be crucial in determining their standings.

Both teams are hoping their key players can return to full strength and contribute to their success as the season progresses.
