Breaking News: Braves Confirm Another Departure Top Experienced Man Due To….

Ron Washington’s Departure from the Braves A Big Mistake.

The phrase “I made a huge mistake” reminds many of the iconic scene from Arrested Development where GOB Bluth finds himself locked behind bars.

Around the same era, Ron Washington, then the beloved infield coach for the Oakland Athletics, was skeptical about Scott Hatteberg’s potential to master first base—a sentiment he should have probably kept to himself.

Many were thrilled when Washington got a chance to manage again, but his decision to leave the Atlanta Braves seems as misguided as Leo Mazzone’s departure years ago.

Mazzone, the famed pitching coach, left the Braves for the Baltimore Orioles, a move that essentially ended his prominent career.

Washington left Atlanta to manage the Los Angeles Angels, a team that hasn’t seen the postseason in nearly a decade.

Under Washington’s leadership, the Angels are struggling, sitting at a dismal 41-55 by the All-Star Break. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic has already named Washington as one of the eight managers on the hot seat in his latest newsletter.

Washington took the job under General Manager Perry Minasian, but with Minasian’s contract also expiring, Washington’s tenure seems uncertain.

Although Washington may not publicly acknowledge his longing for the Braves, the fans in Atlanta certainly miss him.
