Josh Christopher Signs Two-Way Deal with Miami Heat, Ready to Shine.
On Thursday, the Miami Heat and Summer League standout Josh Christopher reached an agreement on a two-way contract.
The 22-year-old celebrated the news on social media, expressing his gratitude to the Heat and his eagerness to get to work.
Christopher’s impressive performance in the Summer League was pivotal for the Heat, earning him the MVP title in the championship game in Las Vegas.
In that game, he recorded 24 points, four rebounds, one assist, three steals, and two blocks while shooting 9-for-17 from the field and 6-for-10 from beyond the arc.
Over six Summer League games, Christopher averaged 19.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game, with a shooting percentage of 54.1% from the field and 52.5% from three-point range.
Christopher’s NBA journey began with the Houston Rockets, who selected him in the first round of the 2021 draft.
During his two seasons with the Rockets, he played in 138 regular-season games, averaging 6.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
He shot 45.5% from the field, though his three-point shooting percentage was a lower 27.7%.
In the 2023 offseason, the Rockets traded Christopher to the Memphis Grizzlies, who subsequently waived him.
Although he did not play in the NBA during the 2023-24 season, he remained active in the G League, including a stint with the Heat’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
His promising performance with the Skyforce and a strong showing in the Summer League have now earned him another shot at proving his worth in the NBA.
