Alec Bohm is currently out of the lineup due to discomfort in his left hand. He sustained the injury during the Phillies’ game against the Braves on August 29, when he felt pain after fouling a pitch during his first inning at-bat against Charlie Morton.
Initially, there was concern tha
t Bohm might have suffered a hamate bone injury, which could have been serious. However, the Phillies received some relief when X-rays revealed no structural damage. Manager Rob Thomson commented that the team was fortunate to avoid a severe injury, saying, “We got a break.”
As of September 1, Bohm has missed three consecutive games. Thomson has indicated that while Bohm is showing signs of improvement, he is not yet ready to return to the field. Although his grip strength is gradually getting better, the manager does not anticipate Bohm will be placed on the injured list at this time.
