He initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots on May 12, 2023. After being cut from the Patriots following training camp, Lumpkin spent parts of his debut season on the practice squads of the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos before landing with the Packers.

In a corresponding move, the Packers have parted ways with La’Mical Perine and Jalen Wayne. Perine, a running back, and Wayne, a wide receiver, were both released from the practice squad. These changes reflect the team’s ongoing adjustments as they work to finalize their roster and practice squad composition.
