As the NCAA Transfer Portal’s spring window opens, LSU football is actively assessing its roster changes and future recruitment strategies under Coach Brian Kelly.
The initial phase of this window has already brought notable movement, with six players announcing their exits from the Tigers’ roster. This trend continued with the recent decision of true freshman offensive lineman Joseph Cryer to leave the program, marking a seventh departure.
This wave of transfers has now allowed LSU to fall below the 85-man scholarship limit for the first time this offseason.
This reduction in roster size provides the team with a strategic advantage, as it now has the opportunity to bolster its squad by targeting specific positions for recruitment.
The immediate focus for LSU’s recruitment efforts is set on enhancing their defensive tackle position. Given the recent departures and the current flexibility in their roster, the Tigers aim to strengthen this critical area to ensure a competitive edge in the upcoming season.
