SKYSPORT NEWS: Nottingham forest mount pressure on club to snatch a key star from them not minding his contract negotiation

Despite a new deal, Nottingham Forest is still interested in Sunderland’s youthful star.

The teenage player just extended his contract with the Black Cats.

Tom Watson, a potential young prospect, will present a challenge for Sunderland as Nottingham Forest considers a move for the winger.

As one of many young players to dedicate their careers to the team this summer, Watson, 17, recently inked a new contract with the Black Cats that will keep him with the team until 2026. However, Forest of Steve Cooper have reportedly expressed interest in the forward after Rangers did so in recent months.

According to The Sun, they have been keeping an eye on his improvement for some time and may be planning a January bid. Watson’s worth is up.

At the end of the previous campaign, Watson made his lone appearance for Tony Mowbray’s first team, coming off the bench in the closing moments of the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town at the Stadium of Light.

The question of whether Sunderland would be willing to sell is another. Sunderland sporting director Kristjaan Speakman was pleased that Watson, along with players like Zak Johnson, Matty Young, and Chris Rigg, have committed their futures to the club while speaking earlier this month about the club’s youth talent.

“They’ve seen a football club that will give them an opportunity and they feel it’s the right place to be,” he added, adding that all of those young players have the option to go to a number of other football clubs.
