£40,000-a-week Nottingham Forest outcast plays for B-Team against Gedling MW

The 33-year-old hasn’t played a professional game of football since featuring for Notts County on loan during the 2021/22 campaign. He made just nine appearances at Meadow Lane and hasn’t played a senior game since. The Reds have struggled to offload the midfielder.

Forest are paying the midfielder £40,000-a-week at the moment due to a clause that was inserted in the contract he signed in 2020 to give him a pay rise if the club won promotion.
At 33-years-old, Arter could still be doing a job for someone in the EFL. Instead, he’s training with the B-Team and helping .Warren Joyce with a bit of coaching among the younger players. Last night he helped the Reds win 4-1 and reach the quarter-final of the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup by beating a determined Gedling outfit.

It’s not clear who scored the four goals that the B-Team managed last night. Arter wasn’t on the score sheet for Forest, however, and he likely didn’t complete 90 minutes either.
The Reds are going to struggle to offload the midfielder now. Arter will be out of contract in the summer and in terms of Forest getting rid of the player it can’t come soon enough.
