On their offensive line, the Pittsburgh Steelers are keeping a depth player from the previous campaign.
The Steelers have officially re-signed guard Max Scharping, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
Scharping signed to Pittsburgh’s active roster from the Washington Commanders’ practice squad in early October of this past year.
He appeared in just two regular season games for the Steelers while logging a total of eight snaps, with seven of them coming in Week 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Scharping also saw the field for two special teams reps versus the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
Scharping, who was selected in the second round by the Houston Texans in 2019 from Northern Illinois, started 33 games for the team through the 2021 season before the Cincinnati Bengals claimed him off waivers during the 2022 final roster cuts.
Despite never starting throughout his tenure in The Queen City, Scharping made 14 appearances for the team that season and went on to play in all 17 games in 2023.
As Pittsburgh’s backup offensive lineman, he now joins players like Ryan McCollum, Dylan Cook, Spencer Anderson, and Calvin Anderson.
