Berlusconi was the longest-serving prime minister of Italy, despite accusations of corruption and scandals surrounding his sex-driven parties. Before getting involved in politics in 1994, he founded the biggest commercial TV network in Italy.

With his passing, one of the most colorful and contentious political careers in recent memory comes to an end. He was well-known for his infamous “bunga bunga” parties. In Italy, the prostitution-related sex parties created a significant scandal.

When he was officially found guilty of paying Karima El Mahroug, also known as Ruby Rubacuori (Italian for “Ruby the Heartstealer”), for sex services between February and May 2010, when she was under the age of 18, Berlusconi was serving as prime minister.

Known for his bold and exuberant demeanor, Berlusconi led Italy three times, from 1994 to 1995, 2001 to 2006, and 2008 to 2011.

2011 saw him resign from his position as prime minister for the final time as Italy faced many scandals and a debt crisis akin to that of Greece.

Due to a tax fraud conviction resulting from transactions in his media empire, he was barred from entering public office for ten years; however, in 2018, the restriction was lifted.
