Sean Dyche challenges Everton star to add more goals to his game after Nottingham Forest heroics

Following his game-winning performance against Nottingham Forest over the weekend, Sean Dyche praised Dwight McNeil and now he’s backing him to score more goals.

Since rejoining Dyche after their time together at Burnley, McNeil, 24, has been a vital member of the team. From the opening Premier League match against Arsenal to the last day’s match against Bournemouth, he started every match.

He missed the first few games of the season due to an ankle injury, but he quickly regained his spot on the team by unseating Arnaut Danjuma. He has only scored one goal and provided two assists thus far, but his excellent play over the weekend shows that he can be an asset to Everton. He also had a strike deflected off the line.

“He is a high scorer in training, so he’s got real ability around the goal and he can score different kind of goals be it short or long range, so I’m very pleased for him that his work paid off. It’s not just his quality I mean, he works very, very hard for the side and I think that’s a good mixture when you’ve got hard-working players but also the quality to go with it.”

With just eight goals in 52 games for the Toffees, McNeil has never been a consistent scorer. However, since joining the team in 2022, there has been a great deal of unrest both on and off the field. Along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto, he has the highest average of two shots per game. His 1.97 overall shooting average over the previous year places him in the 41st percentile, so he has room to improve.
