The Italian media has been heavily monitoring AC Milan’s squad situation over the past few days due to a few players who are recovering from injuries and might perhaps make a return before the team’s Champions League match against Arsenal.
Among them is Rafael Leão, a Portuguese talent, and TuttoMercatoWeb claims the Rossoneri are receiving some “bad news” on that front.
Despite having partially trained with the squad in recent days, the outlet reports that the midfielder will not be available for tomorrow’s Serie A match against Atalanta. He will not be included in the matchday squad.
According to the story, the “objective” is to include him in the squad for Wednesday’s match against Newcastle United.
Manager Stefano Pioli had stated during a press conference earlier today that a decision would be taken in the afternoon, and it appears TuttoMercatoWeb was the first to learn about the development.
Newcastle will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on the situation and perhaps hoping that Leáo doesn’t recover enough to play at St. James’ Park next week at full strength so they won’t have to cope with him.
