Saints Show Exactly Who They Are Again

The Saints stumbled again, essentially crushing their chances to control their playoff destiny with a disappointing 30-22 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Despite a late push to make the score respectable, the game was a clear display of their struggles.

Their defense was dominated by the Rams, conceding both on the ground and through the air. Matthew Stafford had a comfortable night, hardly pressured as he amassed 328 passing yards, mainly connecting with Puka Nacua, Demarcus Robinson, and Cooper Kupp. Offensively, the Saints couldn’t muster much, especially in their ground game, tallying a mere 35 yards and struggling with fourth-down conversions.

Now at 7-8, the Saints, while technically in the playoff hunt, face slim odds due to several key losses against fellow playoff hopefuls and a mediocre conference record. Despite this, their chance to clinch the NFC South remains if they win their remaining games against Tampa Bay and Atlanta and hope for specific results. However, their inconsistent performance against formidable teams and within their division has been a recurring issue under Coach Dennis Allen.

Their path to the playoffs heavily relies on a series of precise outcomes, but their inconsistency against tough opponents may lead to a deserved season on the sidelines.
