The most entertaining matchups of the Big 12’s redesigned 2024 football schedule

With Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC in 2024, Big 12 football will look different, but that isn’t necessarily a negative thing.

Brett Yormark is the Big 12 commissioner. He recognized the wave of realignment coming and did everything he could to help his league grow in 2024 and beyond. Out went the Longhorns and the Sooners, and in came Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, Colorado, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston.

The Big 12 Conference, which is now 16 teams strong, has released its 2024 schedule, and there are some exciting games to look forward to.

They refer to this clash as “the holy war,” and while it has been played several times in the past, this will be the first time the Cougars and Utes have met as conference opponents since 2010. It’s also been a long since we’ve witnessed this intense matchup. The two last met in 2021, when No. 19 BYU defeated No. 12 Utah, 26-17.

This might rapidly become one of college football’s most intense intra-conference rivalries.

November 23: Colorado at Kansas

You just know “Coach Prime” is going to garner a lot of excitement again next season, but don’t ignore on Kansas head coach Lance Leipold, who went 9-4 last season with a bowl win and has the Jayhawks playing.

It’s also apt considering Baylor and Houston are a traditional Southwestern Conference battle. The two schools had played annually from 1976 until 1995, when the SWC folded and Baylor joined the Big 12, while Houston became a founder member of Conference USA.
