A transfer linebacker schedules a visit to the Plains and a number of former Auburn football players reveal their transfer destinations in today’s Auburn Tigers News edition.
Less than a week after he accessed the transfer site, Colton Hood decided to transfer to Colorado.
Hood played in just four games for the Tigers in his rookie season of 2023 and ultimately chose to redshirt. As a result, he will be entering Colorado with all four of his eligibility left.two days prior.
Former South Alabama linebacker Khalil Jacobs will be visiting multiple SEC schools, including Auburn football, it was announced earlier this week by On3 Sports. With two years of eligibility remaining, the sophomore is anticipated on the Plains on Tuesday. In addition to the Tigers, he will also visit Missouri and Alabama.
Head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff are probably searching for additional quality and depth in the Tigers’ secondary now that Cam Riley, Wesley Steiner, and even Brenton Williams have entered the portal.
Following the 2023 campaign, Jacobs had 56 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles. He also spoke with On3 about the qualities he hopes to see in his next program.
He said to On3, “I’m searching for a positive environment where I can thrive.” “I want to be a part of a system that will allow me to continue being dominant on the field.”
The Tigers have been holding visits and adding players via the transfer portal, but a number of players have left the team, including cornerback Colton Hood, wide receiver Jay Fair, and edge Brenton Williams.
Brenton Williams, an Opelika, Alabama native, registered for the spring window from the beginning and said last week that he had committed to Liberty, the old school of head coach Hugh Freeze. Williams’ eligibility will last for an additional four years.
The Tigers’ most effective receiver from the previous campaign, Jay Fair, logged into the site last week and located his new program with ease. Fair made his move to play for Lincoln Riley and USC official on Sunday afternoon.
And lastly, Tyler Scott, another cornerback who chose to opt out of the portal, and cornerback Colton Hood entered simultaneously. Hood and his brother, who played at UCF before, will play together at Colorado next season, it was reported Sunday afternoon.
