Official delisting of a premiership midfielder by the Western Bulldogs

At the Kennel, the 27-year-old played for nine seasons.
Toby McLean, an unemployed midfielder, has been removed off the Western Bulldogs’ roster.

McLean, a member of the Bulldogs’ 2016 premiership team, did not receive a new contract offer for the 2024 campaign.

After five straight seasons in which he played at least 12 AFL games, the 27-year-old managed just 11 senior appearances over the last three seasons for the Dogs.

Sam Power, the head of the Bulldogs list, commended McLean for his work at the Kennel.

“Toby has long been a devoted member of the Western Bulldogs and will always be recognized for his contribution to the team’s 2016 Premiership triumph.

“Toby was a highly well-liked team member who went above and above to assist all of his colleagues and would take on altruistic duties for the team on the field.

“Given the results of the trade period thus far and the list’s projected future, we have chosen to make this further adjustment at this time.

“We wish Toby all the best with his future endeavours and he’ll always be welcome back at VU Whitten Oval.”

If McLean wants to pursue another AFL chance, he can do so during the impending delisted free agency period, which starts on November 1.
