Four-Star Receiver Travis Smith Jr. Commits to Tennessee

Travis Smith Jr., a four-star wide receiver, has chosen the Tennessee Volunteers over the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Auburn Tigers. Initially expected to commit to Georgia, Smith shifted his focus to Tennessee as his commitment announcement approached.

Tennessee made a significant impact in recruiting on Saturday by securing Smith, a four-star receiver from Georgia.

While Smith was previously leaning towards Georgia, his final official visit to Tennessee seemed to solidify his decision in favor of the Volunteers.

Smith stands at 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 200 pounds. Hailing from Atlanta, he is ranked 113th nationally in the class of 2025 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Within his class, he is the 16th ranked receiver and the 14th ranked player from Georgia. On3, however, ranks Smith higher, placing him as the 59th overall player in his class.

Travis Smith Jr. Commits to Tennessee Over Georgia Football

The receiver from the Peach State selected Tennessee over other top programs such as Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia. Throughout June, Smith took official visits to each of his finalists, a common practice for many prospects.

His connection with Tennessee grew stronger after several visits to Knoxville over the past year. He received his Tennessee offer last September and visited the campus shortly afterward, attending the Texas A&M and Georgia games.

Smith’s physical presence is notable, as Tennessee had not yet recruited a player with his size in the current class. Though he may not possess elite speed, he excels in contested catch situations, often outmaneuvering defenders with his height and strength.
