The Miami Heat’s recent Summer League success has put the spotlight on Josh Christopher, whose standout performance earned him the Summer League championship MVP and highlighted his potential for a two-way contract extension.

On Monday night, the Miami Heat secured their first Summer League championship in franchise history with a thrilling 120-118 overtime win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The team, featuring notable players like Kel’el Ware, Pelle Larsson, Alondes Williams, Keshad Johnson, and Cole Swider, showcased impressive teamwork. However, it was Josh Christopher who truly stole the show with his exceptional play.

Josh Christopher's Summer League Championship Game MVP Performance! 👏 | July 22, 2024

Christopher, the 24th pick in the 2021 draft, delivered clutch performances throughout the Summer League.

He had a remarkable 20-point fourth-quarter surge against the Oklahoma City Thunder and a critical and-1 play against the Golden State Warriors that propelled the team to the championship game.

In the final, Christopher scored 24 points, including six three-pointers, and made a memorable step-back three-pointer from the logo.

His consistent excellence not only secured the championship for the Heat but also earned him the MVP title for the Summer League championship.

Christopher has been part of the Miami Heat organization since early January, playing for their G League affiliate in Sioux Falls.

After being waived by the Houston Rockets in 2023, he remained focused and dedicated, understanding that nothing is guaranteed in the NBA.

Given his performance, the Miami Heat should consider offering Christopher a two-way contract immediately. His ability to come through in crucial moments and his demonstrated skill set make him a valuable asset for the team.
