Joe Mazzulla on Jeff Van Gundy’s hiring by the Celtics: We’re Lucky He’s Here
Joe Mazzulla, the Celtics’ head coach, has made it known that he supports the hiring of Jeff Van Gundy as a senior basketball adviser.
According to Mazzulla, “Anytime you can add like high-character, high-level, professional people, I think it’s a no-brainer,” Souichi Terada of MassLive reports. We are fortunate to have him because he has handled every conceivable issue in the NBA, in coaching, in FIBA, and in the NBA. He is not only here for the coaching staff; he is here for everyone. He also works really hard and listens well. He has so significantly increased worth, even in the first several weeks.
Van Gundy, who has spent the last 16 years working as an in-game analyst for ESPN, will give the Celtics a “bird’s eye view” of the action on the court, according to Mazzulla. Mazulla also plans to solicit the regular feedback of Van Gundy.
