Max Verstappen’s potential move to Mercedes has been a major topic of discussion, and the recent episode of the Total Motorsport F1 Show, featuring Adam Dickinson and Brandon Sutton, delved into why Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff is willing to be patient in this situation.
Mercedes is currently postponing the announcement that Andrea Kimi Antonelli will join their team as a new driver.
This delay is largely due to Wolff’s anticipation regarding Verstappen’s decision about his future. Wolff’s interest in acquiring Verstappen has been openly expressed, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding the three-time Formula 1 world champion’s future over the last six months.
Recent developments within Verstappen’s current team, Red Bull, have further complicated matters. An internal dispute emerged between Verstappen’s father, Jos, and Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. Although tensions were high, they have managed to maintain a relatively civil relationship in recent times.
In June, Verstappen suggested that he was committed to staying with Red Bull for the 2025 season. However, since then, the 26-year-old driver has had multiple contentious interactions with his team regarding issues with their RB20 car. These disputes have fueled speculation about his future and contributed to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his potential move to Mercedes.
