Auburn Tigers football coach Hugh Freeze has called on social media to offer prayers for running back Brian Battie following a tragic shooting in Florida.
Over the weekend, Battie was involved in a violent incident in Sarasota that resulted in his brother, Tony Battie IV, being killed and several others being injured.
Coach Freeze made an appeal on X, urging the Auburn community to keep Brian Battie in their thoughts and prayers, as he faced a significant setback and remained on a ventilator.
According to Freeze’s update, Battie’s condition was critical after the shooting.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported on Saturday that Battie was in a severe state following the incident.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the shooting. Deputies responded to the scene around 3:30 a.m. ET, following reports of gunfire. The authorities are currently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
