Breaking news has emerged with the Toronto Maple Leafs expressing strong interest in acquiring veteran forward Max Pacioretty for the upcoming 2024-25 NHL season, according to Nick Alberga of The Leafs Nation.
The Maple Leafs are one of several teams looking to sign the experienced 35-year-old Pacioretty. Should he join Toronto, it would be under a standard NHL contract rather than a professional tryout (PTO).
This move reflects the Maple Leafs’ intent to add a seasoned player to their roster as they prepare for the new season.
Additionally, Arthur Staple from The Athletic has reported that the Detroit Red Wings are also in contention to sign Pacioretty. This indicates that there is significant interest in the forward from multiple teams, highlighting his value despite recent injury concerns.
Pacioretty’s recent performance includes his time with the Washington Capitals during the 2023-24 season, where he tallied four goals and 23 points in 47 games.
However, his career has been marred by recurring Achilles injuries, and he has not surpassed 48 games played in a season since the 2019-20 season.
