In a strategic move, the Atlanta Braves have successfully achieved their goal by signing veteran infielder Joey Wendle. This decision follows Wendle’s recent release from the Mets and reflects the Braves’ commitment to enhancing their roster with experienced players.
Today, the Braves confirmed the addition of Joey Wendle to their roster under a major league contract. To accommodate this new signing, they have sent Luke Williams down to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Wendle, who is 34 years old, previously played for the Mets this season, where he had a batting average of .222, hitting 8 out of 36.
His contract with the Mets began in early November after he became a free agent from the Miami Marlins.
Wendle brings valuable versatility to the Braves’ infield. Over the course of the season with New York, he played in various positions across the infield, including seven games at second base, two at third base, and one at shortstop. His ability to cover multiple infield roles makes him a valuable asset for the Braves, adding depth and flexibility to their lineup.
