Sunderland’s head coach placed focus on his chosen aces but appears to be particularly interested in the young, gifted

Sunderland may want three Premier League teenagers on a loan

Sunderland has had a strong start to the season, but the January transfer window offers a chance to strengthen the team even more.

It’s easy to say Tony Mowbray’s team is off to a good start as they are now in fifth place in the Championship.

Despite the promising start, the form must be maintained with some new arrivals during the January transfer window.

It may be argued that the Black Cats need to add a striker, but it is reasonable to conclude that adding another young player is not the solution.

Let’s examine three possibilities that could be added to with a short-term loan to give a push.

Tim Iroegbunam

Birmingham City v Queens Park Rangers - Sky Bet Championship

Dan Neil has performed excellently this season while Corry Evans has battled with injuries. Nevertheless, some defensive midfield coverage might be beneficial.

He prefers to play at the base of the midfield despite not being a pure defensive mid. The talented England youth international would give Mowbray a player with a different playing style.

He may be a little risk because he is recovering from an injury himself. Given his performance while on loan at Queens Park Rangers last season, he might be a good piece of business.

Louie Barry

Stockport County v Bradford City - Sky Bet League Two

Okay, so this one does center on his being called back. Barry is now excelling while on loan at Stockport County. He was named League Two Player of the Month in December after setting new scoring marks.

The Villa loanee has seven goals and two assists in 13 starts. His parent club might recall him and look for a higher-level move, according to rumors.

It would be a wise move for the Black Cats to try him out if that happens. Even if he hasn’t participated in the Championship, he could succeed. He might thrive in the North East without the stress of playing every week.

Omari Kellyman

Aston Villa v Hibernian - UEFA Conference League Qualifying Play-Offs: Second Leg

Another alternative for Villa, but it shows how many talented young players they have who are already capable of playing at a top level.

Kellyman has already this season participated in the EFL Cup and the Europa Conference League. This followed a strong preseason performance.

a midfielder who enjoys running toward the opponent when possessing the ball. Being only 18 years old, he is a candidate who might need some time to settle in. After completing that, he might pose a serious threat.

Kellyman, if taken on loan, could easily fit in Sunderland’s midfield, which already has a youthful appearance.
