Dolphins of Miami: WR Stephen A. Smith receives criticism from Tyreek Hill for his absurd remarks about Tua Tagovailoa

After Stephen A. Smith made some remarks against the Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, wide receiver Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins had a few things to say to him.

For the recent remarks he made about Tagovailoa, Smith has come under fire, but his teammate has had enough.

WR for the Miami Dolphins: “I’m tired of people criticizing my QB.”

Stephen A. Smith claimed earlier this week on First Take that the Miami Dolphins’ success was less due to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s accuracy than it was due to players like Tyreek Hill turning short throws into longer plays. When Dan Orlovsky did call Smith out, telling him to stop referring to Tua as a “dink-and-dunk quarterback,” Smith retaliated by alleging his words were distorted:

Smith clarified, “I didn’t imply he’s a dink-and-dunk quarterback. I remarked that he occasionally keeps dinking and dunking Tyreek Hill. I was trying to make the point that Tyreek Hill can take a 3-yard ball and run for a touchdown, not often or even most of the time.

Hill expressed his frustration with people criticizing his QB on his podcast, It Needed to be Said:

Hill remarked, “I’m sick and tired of people criticizing my quarterback without cause. He’s been working so hard this year, so people should stop criticizing him. Many folks, particularly those from last year, don’t comprehend the struggles that my dog faced just to get here. How did he come to his current location? being mentioned as the MVP? Man, that’s on another level.

The quarterback has received a lot of criticism in the last two years, particularly after suffering injuries and continuing to play through them. However, many NFL media members think that Tua’s success is largely the result of his coaching, followed by the talent in his environment. The recordings, however, reveal otherwise, with Hill even claiming he is unaware of the games Smith has been watching:

“I’m not going to call him a clown,” Hill declared. “I won’t refer to him by any nicknames. All I’ll say is, Stephen A. Smith, I’m not sure what to say to you. However, if we were to actually observe the game and how we play, none of our paths are

It’s not like Tagovailoa is the league leader in passing yards, touchdown passes, passer rating, or first downs through the air. However, Smith seemed to credit Tyreek Hill, his WR1, with all of his success.

Smith remarked, “I don’t know if y’all watch Miami enough. These passes are not all for 19, 20, 30, or 40 yards. You’ve only got Tua dipping it two yards to Tyreek Hill, who is then responsible for carrying it home.

But Stephen, do you follow the Dolphins enough? When Smith was joking about Tagovailoa’s “short passes,” a highlight video of the quarterback throwing a 50-yard dot played, which was ironically funny.
